Our Training Approach
Heavy Compound Movements
One of the defining principles was lifting heavy weights with compound movements like squats, deadlifts, and bench presses. Ronnie Coleman himself was known for lifting extraordinarily heavy weights, even during pre-contest prep. The belief was that heavy lifting built dense, thick muscle mass.
Volume Training
Training sessions often included multiple exercises per muscle group with several sets and reps. This was done to fully exhaust the muscle and stimulate maximum growth.
Bodybuilders commonly used a split routine, focusing on different muscle groups on different days, allowing for both intensity and recovery.
Consistency and Discipline
The mindset was that consistency was key. Day in and day out, bodybuilders stuck to their training and diet plans with little deviation. Discipline was essential, as skipping workouts or meals was seen as detrimental to progress.
"No Pain, No Gain" Mentality
The philosophy of enduring pain as a necessary part of growth was widely accepted. Training to failure and beyond was common, with many bodybuilders embracing the discomfort as a sign of effective training.
